1800 Reposado Tequila is a widely available, budget-friendly tequila crafted from 100% Blue Weber agave harvested from the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico. Named to commemorate the year tequila was first successfully aged in oak casks, the brand is owned by the Beckmann family, who also own Jose Cuervo, and it is produced at the same facility (NOM 1122 / NOM 1612). [1, 2, 3, 4]
Production & Aging
- Agave Source: 100% Blue Weber agave grown in mineral-rich volcanic soil.
- Distillation: Double-distilled in copper pot stills for a cleaner profile.
- Aging: Rested (reposado) for a period ranging between 2 to 6 months.
- Wood Profile: Matured in a combination of new American oak and French oak barrels, which introduces soft, rounded qualities compared to unaged blanco expressions.
- Proof: 80 proof (40% ABV). [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]
Flavor Profile & Tasting Notes
- Appearance: A bright, light honey or warm golden straw color. [1, 2]
- Aroma: An oak-forward nose featuring distinct sweet vanilla, buttery caramel, subtle floral notes, and a minor ethanol punch. [1, 2]
- Palate: Noticeably dry or slightly waxy mouthfeel with an immediate introduction of sweet oak, mild baking spices (cinnamon), roasted almond, and a touch of smoky wood. [1, 2, 3]
- Finish: Short to medium in length, resolving into a peppery bite with lingering notes of sweet orange peel and white pepper
