Out of hundreds of barrels aging in Kentucky, only a select few are chosen to be bottled unblended as single barrels. Bottled at a robust 108 Proof, Barrel #184 is a true "one-of-a-one" whiskey. Once this specific barrel run is sold out, it is gone forever.
The 2XO Process: Double-Oaked Perfection
"2XO" stands for Two Times Oak. This proprietary process takes an already mature, ultra-premium Kentucky straight bourbon and re-barrels it into a secondary, freshly charred new American oak barrel for up to an additional year.
- The High-Rye Base: Crafted from a mash bill containing 35% rye, delivering a bold, spicy foundation.
- The Double-Barreled Finish: The secondary maturation coaxes deep, luxurious wood sugars, caramelized notes, and a velvety viscosity out of the wood that standard bourbons simply cannot match.
Barrel #184 Tasting Notes
Because the Gem of Kentucky series consists of individual, unblended single barrels, Barrel #184 possesses its own completely unique flavor fingerprint:
- Nose: An inviting bouquet of toasted marshmallow, rich vanilla bean, seasoned oak, and a sharp pop of baking spice.
- Palate: Incredibly viscous and mouth-coating. Upfront sweetness of dark chocolate and brown sugar gives way to a sophisticated wave of black pepper spice, nutmeg, and stewed dark fruits.
- Finish: Long, warm, and lingering. The double-oak influence shines through with sweet wood smoke, leather, and a perfect rye tingle.
