This milestone expression honors the legacy of the late Master Distiller Emeritus Parker Beam by utilizing a distinctive rye backset fermentation technique that he long championed. Pulled from a small run of just 100 barrels, it is bottled uncut at barrel proof and non-chill filtered to preserve its robust, deeply structured profile.
Production & Specifications
- Mash Bill: Uses Heaven Hill's traditional bourbon recipe of 78% Corn, 10% Rye, and 12% Malted Barley
- The Rye Backset: Rather than altering the grain ratios, liquid remaining from a previous rye whiskey distillation was incorporated into the fermentation process to introduce enhanced balance, depth, and a vibrant spice kick.
- Maturation: Distilled between October 2011 and January 2012, the whiskey spent 14 years aging across multiple floors of four distinct rickhouses (A, KK, L, and M).
- Proof: 118 Proof (59% ABV).
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Rich aromas of seasoned sweet oak, roasted nuts, vanilla wafer, and citrus oils, with subtle hints of baking spices and char.
- Palate: Full-bodied, thick, and viscous. Up front, it layers butterscotch, honey, and vanilla with toasted oak, developing mid-palate complexity featuring dark fruits, clove, and nutmeg.
