Ever since we started the club, our mission has been clear: bring distillery-type experiences and single barrels back to Kitsap County for our members. What we've learned since starting, though, is that whiskey enthusiasts across the country are excited by small distilleries crafting special products, but they often have a tough time getting them. These releases are usually only available in person at the distillery.

An idea was born: why not bring exclusive releases to whiskey enthusiasts across the country through our partnership with bondedbottleshop.com and our friendships with amazing distilleries? The first distillery to try this concept with us was obvious—Still Austin. They were the first to take a chance on us as a new club and provide us with a single barrel selection.

We traveled to the distillery in October and met up with Conrad of Whiskey Bonded and Andrew of Average Whiskey Drinker to get started with blending. Master Distiller John Schrepnel and National Brand Manager Jason Harry were there to help guide us through the initial tasting of 10 barrels, then show us the blending process.

After a few initial blends, we were close, but Neal Gaulden, our first club member, recommended adding one more barrel to deepen the flavor. He couldn't have been more right; that addition completed what you now know as "Still Austin Small Batch Rye." The final step, a few months later, was deciding on the proof. We called in Nancy Fraley for that, and she decided on 114 proof to tame the spice slightly and lengthen the finish.

The final product has beautiful fruit notes on the nose and palate, with gingerbread snap cookies on the palate and a long, inviting baking spice finish. You will love this whiskey neat or in a top-shelf Manhattan! We hope you enjoy this bottle as much as we did crafting it!
