Don Julio Ultima Reserva Extra Añejo Tequila is the crown jewel of the brand's aging program, serving as a liquid tribute to founder Don Julio González. This ultra-premium spirit is crafted using the final agave harvest planted by Don Julio and his family in 2006. It represents a highly limited, collector-tier release designed for slow sipping.
Production & Heritage
- The Solera Method: Unlike traditional batch-aged expressions, this uses a Solera aging system. It fractionally blends tequilas of different ages and individual characteristics to ensure consistency and unrivaled depth.
- Unique Cask Finish: The tequila matures for a total of 36 months. It begins its journey in charred American white oak ex-bourbon barrels before undergoing a final finish in seasoned Madeira wine casks. [1, 2, 3, 4]
- Limited Rarity: Initially launched to mark the distillery's 80th anniversary, the producer originally restricted the output to just 4,000 cases per year. It will continue in highly limited quantities until the final 2006 harvest reserves are completely exhausted.
